I'm a writer and the author of two internationally acclaimed novels -
'Pink Mountain on Locust Island' published with Hachette and Coffeehouse Press and
'Gunk Baby' published with W&N and Astra House.
I compose music and you can find my projects on streaming platforms as ZK king.
Currently, I'm teaching the Advanced Novel Workshop and the Experimental Fiction Workshop
at the Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver, Colorado.
I'm also currently the writer in residence at Montsalvat in Nillumbik.
In my work and teaching, I value the interrogative process of long-form and
see all my practices as an open-ended process of staying curious and open to learning.
As an Emerging Writers Festival Ambassador and Red Room Poetry Youth Ambassador,
I was part of initiatives dedicated to amplifying writers’ voices and growing creative communities.
In 2024 I became the inaugural recipient of the Paragraph Fellowship.
I also had the privilege of representing my country at the University of Iowa International Writers Program
supported by a full ECA funded scholarship in 2022.
Earlier in my career, I received the Melbourne Prize for Literature 'Readings Residency Award',
named Sydney Morning Herald's 'Best Young Novelist', and was recognised as a New York Times 'Editor’s Choice'.
At the moment, I'm focused on working with writers & artists in the capacity of
mentorship, manuscript assessment and workshop instruction.
I currently teach Advanced Novel-Writing at Lighthouse Writers Workshop.
Some things I love teaching : world building, experimentation and manuscript development.
As a musician, I aspire to create brand new worlds and soundscapes to rest in.
